U16's v Pontypridd

Cardiff Under 16’s made the very short journey to Pontypridd on Sunday 1st November. After last weeks game being called off due to waterlogged pitches, the team were keen to get back on the pitch.
The girls looked relaxed after a joint training session with the under 14’s on Friday. Enforced changes to the match day squad due to players being unavailable due to half term, allowed Rhian to make her club debut.
Cardiff started the brighter and were quickly three goals up in 10 minutes.
Pontypridd tried to rally after this, by keeping hold of the ball, but Cardiff pressed well, enforcing the errors.
Cardiff kept the Pontypridd defence and goalkeeper busy throughout the half, and the half time score line of 10 nil was not undeserved. Shots were coming from all areas of the pitch, and the players tried to stay disciplined and pass the ball around.
Pontypridd came out determined in the second half to keep working and make tackles.
To their credit they never gave up, creating some chances in the second half and restricting the Cardiff team to 4 goals.
Cardiff rotated their squad shortly after the start of the second half, giving player’s opportunities to play in different positions. The final score was 14-0 to Cardiff.
The game allowed everyone the opportunity to build up some match practice prior to next weeks Welsh Under 16 Cup quarter final at Newport.
