A night full of surprises and celebrations was held by Cardiff City Ladies Football Club at the end of season presentation evening, attended by over 200 guests including players from every section of the club along with their families and friends.
Guests of honour included the clubs’ Vice Presidents, Professor Laura McAllister and Jan Overton, Welsh women’s team manager Adrian Tucker, and Welsh Football Trust Development Officer Rob Franklin.
Players as young as twelve presented their own run down of events of the past season, with Reserve team Captain Fern Burrage and Club Coach Michele Adams jointly comparing the night.
All the Under 12 players were awarded medals, a T-shirt and were presented the Under 12’s League Cup for their success in the mini football section, whilst the Under 14’s squad received their T- shirts and medals for coming runners up in the Tesco Cup.
The Under 16 players again swept the board after a tremendous season that saw them complete the South Wales League and Cup double, along with retaining the FAW Challenge Junior Cup. In recognition of their achievements the Under 16’s coaching team of Lesley Judd, Kerry Burrows, Matthew Judd and Joe Lewis were awarded the Kate Stratton Achievement Award.
Individual awards for Most Improved Players and Player of the Year were presented to every section, as well as a special Club Dragon Award presented to a player in every section for recognition of dedication, commitment and endeavour to the sport.
There was also recognition and thanks for all the coaches, volunteers, parents and committee members with a PowerPoint section dedicated to them for all their hard work and support throughout the season.
Welsh Team Manager Adrian Tucker awarded the players who achieved international honours for the past season with their caps: they were Under 17’s Zoe Atkins, Danielle Broadhurst and Lauren Price, Under 19’s Lauren Townsend, Rachel Cullen, Gemma Lewis, Cori Williams, Sophie Dando, Ellie Davies and Sophie Ingle, and the Senior players recognised were Carla Parfitt, Nicola Cousins, Rhian Nokes and Lauren Townsend.
The evening was rounded off with the presentation of the Presidents Cup to the ‘Players Player of the Year’ which was won by Natasha Harding in recognition of an outstanding season in the FA Women’s Premier League (South).
