Wales manager Jarmo Matikainen has named his squad for the UEFA Women's Championship qualifying group match away to Israel.
The match, to be played in Nes Ziona on Sunday 20th November (3pm),
will include four Cardiff City Ladies players, goalkeeper Rhian Nokes,
defender Lauren Price (pictured right) and midfielders Amie Lea and
Sophie Ingle.
It will be the fourth group match for Wales who lost their opening two
games against Republic of Ireland and France. But they will go into the
game high on confidence following their encouraging 2-2 draw against
Scotland, in which Amie Lea and Helen Lander scored. And they will
see this as a good opportunity to record their first win against the nation
which is currently bottom of the group.
Matikainen has picked a largely youthful squad which includes a first
time call up for Cardiff City Ladies' Lauren Price who is promoted to the senior squad after captaining the Wales Under 19’s.
The match will be Wales' last senior international of the year and also the last to be played in Group Four in 2011. Wales are next in competitive action in April when they play away to France.
